Getting Rooted: Welcome to My Corner of the World
Welcome, friend. Pull up a chair.
I started writing this blog because the world around us is fast changing. Everywhere I look, I see people who are starved. Starved for connection, for authenticity. For something real.
As a writer who's been serving this community for years, I wanted to create a space where I could share my own passion projects—about people, about plants, about ourselves. A space where we talk about anything and everything as it relates to life. Because really, we're all just walking each other home.
That's where Get Rooted was born.
The name came to me one morning while I was out in my garden, hands deep in the soil, minding my own dirt. I was thinking about roots, how they anchor us, how they draw up nourishment, how they connect us to something bigger than ourselves. And I realized that's exactly what we're all searching for. We want to be rooted. Rooted in community. Rooted in purpose. Rooted in truth.
Get Rooted. Rooted to inspire.
It's about inspiring people to live their authentic lives and answer their callings—whatever those callings may be. Because I believe with my whole heart that when we're truly rooted in who we are, when we stop trying to be what everyone else thinks we should be, that's when the magic happens. That's when we bloom.
I often think about the late great Wayne Dyer, and I hear his teachings ruminating in my mind. As we age and grow, the things we focus on shift. Perspectives change. What's really important comes more into focus, and I see now how vitally important it is to live a life where I can be authentically me.
This stage in life, my children are growing and nearly grown, and I'm transitioning to a phase where I no longer have the desire to impress people that don't matter or give my time and attention to things that aren't serving me. I'm done with the performance of it all. Done with the pretending. I want real conversations. Real connections. Real life.
And I know I'm not alone in that.
So many of us are waking up to this hunger for something deeper. We're tired of scrolling through highlight reels and curated perfection. We want the messy, beautiful truth of what it means to be human. We want to know we're not the only ones struggling, questioning, growing, changing.
That's what Get Rooted is all about. It's a space for those real conversations. A place where we can talk about the tomatoes we're growing and the dreams we're nurturing. Where we can share stories about our neighbors and our own inner journeys. Where we can celebrate the small, sacred moments that make up a life well-lived.
I want this to be a place that inspires you to answer your calling—whatever that looks like. Maybe it's starting that garden you've been dreaming about. Maybe it's finally writing that book. Maybe it's simply showing up more fully in your own life, being brave enough to let people see the real you.
Because when we get rooted in our truth, when we stop running from ourselves and start running toward our purpose, we give everyone around us permission to do the same. We create ripples. We inspire. We uplift.
So welcome to my corner of the world, where I'm sharing my head and my heart on my sleeve. We'll be talking to and about plants, life, love, relationships, community happenings, and the things that make my heart go pitter patter. We'll laugh, we'll cry, we'll dig our hands in the dirt and see what grows.
Peace, love, and love, y'all.
